Annual 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament

Please refrain from any foul language or poor sportsmanship. Please respect the referees.  Their calls and decisions are final.

    • Games are to 20 (win by two), with an eight minute running clock time limit.  If the game is not completed before time runs out, the team that is leading (does not need to be by two) when time runs out is the winner.
    • If the game is tied at the end of the time limit, there will be a one minute running clock overtime.  If the game is still tied at the end of that overtime, the game becomes sudden-death with next point determining the winner.
  • Opening possession is determined by flip of coin.
  •  Opening possession for each overtime thereafter is alternating possession. Possession changes after made baskets (no make it, take it).

      • On each change of possession after made basket or any stoppage of play, ball must be checked at top of key and offense must pass the ball in before dribbling or shooting. There is no stalling in checking the ball or passing in the ball. Teams have three seconds to check the ball and five seconds to pass in the ball.
      • Ball must be brought back past the three-point line at each change of possession (one foot fully past three point line with possession of ball).
  • Scoring is regulation with two-pointers, three-pointers and one-point free throws.
  •  Two free throws (or three for three-pointers) will be awarded for shooting fouls.

      • One and one free throw opportunities will be awarded upon the fourth team foul and any foul thereafter.  Two free throws will be awarded upon the eighth team foul and any foul thereafter.  Stalling at the foul line is prohibited  upon referees discretion, he may disallow any free throws if person takes more than four seconds to shoot.
      • All free throws are taken with no rebounders and possession goes to the other team after free throws.  On one and one opportunities, shooter only gets second shot if he makes the first.
      • If a person is fouled in the act of shooting and makes the basket, the basket will count and one free throw will be awarded.
      • The referee may call intentional/flagrant fouls at his discretion.  Upon such a call, two free throws and possession of the ball will be awarded.
